3000 Miles to Cape Canaveral, Florida
By Franklyn Gallup of 2008cars.net
Last February I made a road trip on what I call the "Great Continental Diagonal". This was the second time I had made this trip to spend a month of quality time with my mother who lives in Cape Canaveral, Florida. I drove my little Chevy Astro from Centralia, Washington to Cape Canaveral and back. The drive is as soul refreshing as the the time in Florida and helps me get some perspective on my life. I have come to the conclusion that the purpose of life is much the same as the purpose of a roller coaster ride. That purpose is to simply experience it. I believe that although each person's "ride" is different we all share that common purpose. I believe we are spiritual beings have a human experience which we chose to have rather than a human having a spiritual experiences. I had cleaned out my Astro which is also my work truck for my wood flooring business and made in into a mini, gas efficient "motor home". I feel right at home sleeping in my truck at rest areas. While this probably isn't as cost effective as flying, seeing the great USA up close is worth the difference. Several of the goals I set for myself was to visit the Ferrari dealer in Orlando, Florida, see another Space Shuttle launch, spend some time on the beach listening to the soothing sound of the Atlantic Ocean, spend some quality time with my mother, visit some Cape Canaveral Churches, visit my brother in Cheyenne, WY, both going and coming home, visit my niece in Georgia who I hadn't seen in like thirty years. I accomplished all those goals and more. The part I like the best in traveling like that is that the solar time is unimportant. Life goes basically on a biological clock. When I am tired I sleep, when I am hungry is eat, when I feel like driving I drive even if it's 3:00am in the morning. One of the goals I liked best is visiting the Ferrari Dealer in Orlando. I took pictures of all the Ferraris for my Ferrari Website - 2008Ferrari.com. I even got a picture of a Ferrari Enzo. Since I took the pictures I don't have to worry about copyright at all. I became interested in owning a Ferrari because I needed something to shoot for since I am quite content with the way my life is going. I have sat in three different Ferrari cars to date and it feels great. I highly recommend it. It makes the goal more tangible. On the way back to Cape Canaveral I stopped in and took a 2008 Jaguar out for a test drive. I went to a park and the salesman let me take some pictures for my Jaguar website - 2008Jaguar.com. By the way, they don't let you take a Ferrari out for a "test drive" unless of course you drive in with a Ferrari. On my return trip I stopped and saw my niece Near Atlanta and stopped by the Ferrari dealer in Alpharetta, GA. Got some nice Ferrari pictures there too. |

Life is to be experienced! A great motto for us all. You really did do the "continental diagonal." I was disappointed to learn, however, that you can't test drive a Ferrari unless you drive one in. Too bad.
