Create Free Back links with Your Own Article Directory

By Franklyn Gallup of BibleFree.org

I recently had to let some of my domains expire. AnyKeyGraphics.net was one of them.

I just couldn't justify the $79 they wanted to renew the domain and the hosting that went with it.

Since the websites were no longer current I deleted them from my Qondio list of websites. This brought me down to only 55 websites.

The problem this created was as soon as I deleted the websites I had some Intels without do follow websites on them.

I knew that the only way to figure out which Intels had do follow links to the websites I deleted was to go through and actually view each Intel to see if it had a do follow link.

Since I had to do this anyway and edit the Intel with an active website I decided to make an article directory with all 70 Intels on them. In case I have to drop websites in the future I decided to add the do follow website in the description in parentheses.

I went to webs.com and logged into my account there. I like webs.com because there is no hosting fees or domain name fees unless you choose to upgrade. "article-directory" seemed like a good name for the new website and I found it was available.

I then selected a template and started building the new website. I added a links page and a guest book page to the homepage to keep it simple.

After building the links page I changed the links page to the homepage and deleted the original homepage. This made it a simple two page website.

After I had added the Intels with a description for each I added The new website to my Qondio account and authenticated it.

I then added the link to my wood flooring page so that this new website is sure to get indexed by the search engines.

I would be willing to help anyone create a Free article directory for their articles. If this sounds like too much work there is another way to get a free back link.

Simply go to the Guest book and resister. Add a link to your website(s), Intel(s) or profile to your comment when you sign the guest book. That's a Free back link.

I really like that you shared this information with us. I think I would like to do this in the future. Will it work for articles that are not intel on Qondio? Most of my articles are on my blogs.

Yes you could use it for blogs as well. webs.com is almost as easy as writing an email once you have done a few.

I have a similar page at http://writing.netii.net/ for my articles on Associated Content which actually pays for articles as well as creating back links.

This is a good strategy but to make it worth while the article directory must have a good page rank and search engine popularity.

I have several article site scripts and three article sites out there but until I can get some realistic traffic to them and a lot of people visiting and leaving their articles, they will languish at PR2.

The big problem is getting people to post articles on your article site and maintaining the integrity of the article if someone wants to use it on their own site. This is a catch 22 situation, you need articles but article writers need high PR. You can't get high PR because article writers only post in high PR sites (like Qondio).

It would be really useful is someone had a programme that would bulk up-load articles because I have over 3Gb of articles but I haven't yet found a site which allows me to upload more than one at a time.

I don't know if webs.com is typical of free website providers but you should check that you retain the copyright of articles posted to your site.

Actually, I am not interested in having people adding any articles to my article directory. All the links on the page are to my Qondio Intels.

I have provided a guest book so others can add links to their Intels or profiles or articles or websites.

You will notice the do follow link on this Intel goes to the directory which will add additional search engine placement for the directory AND all of my Intels.

Interesting. I've used Webs for sites before...need to think about this. Thanks.

You are very welcome. For me this makes it easier for me to manage my 72 Intels and add some Free back links in the process. I found myself re-reading some of my older Intels as I made this new directory.

Very useful Intel, thanks for sharing. I'll take a look at webs.com and setting up my own article site. If you think it would be useful to interact on this let me know.

When you get your directory made, go to the Guest Book and register as a member of my directory and leave a comment AND a link to your new directory in the comment.

Only 55 websites? That is a lot of sites.

Actually I have over 4000 web pages. I lost track a long time ago. I only have 56 listed on my Qondio profile.

This brought me down to only 55 websites.
Please tell us why you want or need 55 websites. Years ago I thought the more websites you had the more money you would make but what I found out was it was very costly and it took a lot of my time to keep them up to date.

I now have 2 websites that are ranked #1 on Google and I get lots of free traffic.

As an example go to Google and type in Dog First Aid and my website will come up #1. http://www.dog-first-aid-101.com

Is it not the goal of a website to rank #1 on Google?

Ranking #1 on Google IS the goal. Good job on your organic placement on Google. I have some of that but could use more.

I took the time to go through your SBI video. Awesome!! Great information and that will be my next step once I get ahead a little with the funds to pay for it. Wood floors have been a little slow this year so far and funds are tight.

I knew there was a reason I did this Intel. (grin) Great tip!!

This looks like something to bookmark and check out. I know what you mean by the high price of hosting.

High price to me means something costs more than what it is worth. I think the cost of SBI is very reasonable for what it offers and is the next logical step for me.

I just try not to spend money I don't have. My goal right now is to work 40 hours a month. A six hour job will pay the annual fee for me. People just seem to be hanging on to their money right now in my area.

Interesting idea. I have tons of articles published here and there all over the Net. It might be worthwhile to create an article directory. I'll check it out. Thanks.

I have found it handy.

Thank you for sharing all of this great information, Franklyn. I have limited skills, but I understand the principles you are teaching. I'll be taking you up on your help offer.
Best to you.

Gimme A Dream has already registered on the guest book page and left a comment. That's the first step.

Great advice, I don't have an article directory set up, but I plan on using some of your tips. I use hostgator for my sites, and I have my own domain registry account at onlinic. It cost me $8 to register a new domain, and I pay $24 a month to host, or park unlimited domains.

I am always looking for things to take pictures of which might be useful later on. This coffee cup was one I used for lunch with the customer on a job.
