Franklyn's 2010 Corvette Review with Pictures
By Franklyn Gallup of 2010Ferrari.com
I am eating a large roast beef submarine sandwich at Blimpie's as I write this in longhand. Shopping for brand new cars sure can whip up an appetite. I wanted to jot down the details of the experience as soon as possible. Less than a half an hour ago I was sitting behind the wheel of a brand new 2010 Chevrolet Corvette at the Baydo Chevrolet dealership in McKenna, WA. By brand new I mean it has 4 miles on the odometer. This Corvette had a crystal red metallic red exterior which is somewhere between red and maroon. The interior is 193/ebony. After asking permission I took lots of pictures of the interior and exterior. I had located this particular car by doing a search on Cars.com I knew when I woke up the kind of car I wanted to look at today. I narrowed the search by year to 2010. I selected the boxes for convertible and coupe. I selected Chevrolet as the make and selected Corvette as the model. By selecting within 100 miles I got 40 matching vehicles. I kept reducing the mileage until at within 30 miles resulted in only one car. As the closest 2010 Corvette listed that is the car I choose to look at and review. I printed out the list of 40 cars within 100 miles for future shopping adventures. When I got to the dealership the car I was wanting to look at was the first car next to the front door. I walked around the car and admired the beautiful styling of the magnificent beast of a car. I then walked to the information desk and explained that I was gathering information for an article on my website. She was very very helpful and found a salesperson to help me. She told me it would be all right to take pictures which I did while I waited the salesman to become available. Since I was wearing my red Ferrari shirt with the Ferrari logo on it, it was natural for a conversation about the comparison between the Ferrari and Corvette to start. One of the things I found interesting was the distribution of weight that goes into the Corvette design. The engine is located slightly behind the front wheels and the transmission is slightly ahead of the back axle. He explained that this helped with stability and handling. A little later a mechanic came out and lowered the front hood for me. A very solid sound as the hood closed. When I commented on how solid it sounded the mechanic chuckled in agreement. The mechanic also took some pictures with my camera with me sitting in the Corvette. It was a very friendly and helpful experience. When I am ready to make a purchase this will be my first stop. I have finished my sub so I'm heading home. OK so am home now and have finished typing my longhand into typed text. One of the pictures I like to take when I review cars is the factory sticker for information purposes. It saves a lot of time and writing when at the store. Enjoy your new car. It has a lovely sleek appearance.

Oh I didn't buy that car. I just said I was READY to add some miles.... not that I would. I am thinking of checking out a 2010 Mustang, 2010 Mercedes or a 2010 Delorean next.
Where was this car when I was going through mid-life crisis?

My guess would be still on the drawing board.
Franklyn, you are astounding by introducing a Corvette for us. To review this sleek beast of a car tops up your ideas. I love the looks of photo number 9. Light and shade in the show room emphasize the elegant shape of this red car superbly. Not a Ferrari red, but it gets close.

It is tough to take pictures in a showroom with all the lighting challenges. I is hard to control all the glare sometimes but I did what I could. As a Ferrari fan I was actually very impressed with this car. It surprised me. It had a lot more room for my legs. BTW contrary to popular belief not all Ferraris are red.
Thanks for sharing all of the details, Franklyn. I'm sure that you were looking at the models with the short-throw six-speed manual transmission with launch control! Enjoy the ride! Best wishes. Frederick

The wife says I won't be riding this one anytime soon. This was basically an article I can show to the next car dealer I want to gather info for an Intel. Any thoughts on what the next car should be?
Looks like a great car - speedy and greedy I would imagine.

Eleanor? Maybe I need to give Nicholas Cage a call. OK I have the list of cars from Gone in Sixty Seconds It may take me a little longer than sixty seconds. I hope I don't have to drive backwards that fast.
Great review. Made me want one even though I'm in the UK and left hand drives aren't so clever on some of our narrow roads.

That's easy enough to fix. Just have the passenger do the driving.
Nice review but there weren't many changes from the 2009 to the 2010 Vette. But the bang for the buck the Vette is the choice. Good review though

Thanks for the heads up. I won't waste time doing a 2009 Corvette review now.
Now this is cherry!
Gosh, you even wore red for the occasion. It's a drool machine fer sure... How many gallons per mile does it get?
