How I finally got My Twitter organized

By Franklyn Gallup of twitter.com/AnyKeyGraphics

I am not a very organized person and I was having a heck of a time keeping up with my Twitter profile. I have Tweet Deck and that was making it worse. I needed a simple organizing system.

I was having a problem with figuring out who was following me back. The difference between who I was following and who was following me back was getting larger and I had no idea which ones were following me back and which ones weren't.

I figured out that if I could send a direct message to someone they were following me back and if I couldn't direct message someone they weren't following me back.

I could click on the button with the little sun for each person on my list but when you have over 1690 followers that gets a little time consuming.

I then discovered the listing feature. You can have only 20 lists so here is the system I created for myself.

I deleted all the lists I had and started over. On my home page there is a button over on the right side that says "new lists" I then created these 14 lists. NUM AB CD EF GH IJ KL MN OP QR ST UV WX YZ

I then created three additional lists.

Pending for people who I am following and they are not following me back yet

May I? for people I have sent a message asking if I can add their link to my website and

replied is a list for people who have replied to my request.

I then went through my Following List doing a number of them each night. If they were following me back I added them to the alphabetical list according to the first letter of their profile name or to the NUM list if their profile started with a number.

If they weren't following me back I added them to the Pending list. I knew I had something that would work for me when the number of people on the Pending list was exactly equal to the difference of the following list and the followers list.

What makes this work for me is that the list they are on is added to their listing so I can see at a glance who is following me back and who isn't.

It is also very easy to unclick the box on the drop down menu when I click on the list button just to the left of the button with the sun on it and change them from the pending list to the alphabetical list if they decide to follow me back.

I often add links to articles I like on my website http://writing.netii.net/ and then mention the article on my twitter profile and add the link to the page the link is on my website.

Some of my Qondio friends have links to their articles on page11 and I will be adding more. This helps me, Qondio and my friends.

If you would like to start a page like this for your friends it's Free and you get paid $100 when 20 people sign up for a free account using your affiliate link. There are no banner ads either. They are betting if 20 people get a free account a percentage of them will upgrade.

Simply, click on the pink banner over on the left of each page and create a Free Website.

Hi Franklyn,

Great intel about Twitter. I have an account there but have not used it yet. It's been hard for me to visualize how to use it effectively.

Go to my Twitter, follow me and I will show you how I am using it. It is very effective.

Think of it as streaming on Qondio. You get lots of people to follow you and then you send them out snippets of what you are doing in the What's Happening? box.

Every time is I do a new article or slide show I send out an announcement on Twitter and it gets retweeted and more people end up following me.

Great intel. Keeping up with all of these social media sites is an organizational challenge.

I'd like to share a resource that helps me with postings. It's www.hellotxt.com

You get a free account, then make your twitter posting there. It will publish your twit not only on twitter but on any number of social networking sites. It takes awhile to set up initially, but then its fast and easy to use --- and even has an adsense option.

Frederick,
I was getting a little frustrated with Twitter and then I was checking my stats to see where visitors were coming from and I noticed something.

Someone had done a search for Mousespace.net on Google and came to my website by way of the Computer Class October 8 webpage. What caught my eye was my Twitter profile was placing #1 for that search term. I had tweeted the link on my Twitter some days before.

It would stand to reason then if Google is indexing one of my words on my Twitter tweets then they are indexing all the words on my Twitter tweets which would include all the words in titles of articles I am adding.

Hello Franklyn:
I just read your intel about Tweeter; loved it. I'll be trying out some of your suggestions soon.

Hi Franklyn, there's a brilliant free website called Twitter Karma that will show you automatically who is following you back or not! http://dossy.org/twitter/karma/
(I'm twitter.com/LindaLazarides - hope to see you there!)

That was very interesting. I will be interested in seeing what the numerology is all about. They calculated the exact number of people I am following who aren't following back that are in my pending list.

You're right, Twitter can become a mess and I'm glad you resolved it so efficiently. I tweet quite often but didn't even think about announcing my new intels on there...lol. So, thanks for your ideas!! :)
