Is it legal to shoot a Flamingo?
By Franklyn Gallup of FriendlyBank.net
I was coming home from Sunday worship service and I spotted some Flamingos on the side of the road. Since I live in Washington state this isn't that common so I pulled off and turned around to take a closer look. Sure enough there was a flock of Flamingos. So I grabbed my digital camera and took some pictures. On closer investigation I found other interesting things to photograph including chickens, rabbits, biplanes, butterflies, toads, tractors, flowers, ducks, tricycles, and stars. I found out it is legal to shoot Flamingos in Washington State providing you are shooting them with a camera and the Flamingos are metal lawn sculptures. After taking the pictures I talked to Kris who was working at the site. She doesn't make the scuptures but is learning how to weld. The name of the site for the lawn ornaments is "Garden Decor Warehouse". It is located in Rochester, WA. If you take exit 88b off of Interstate 5 in Washington and go 4 miles towards Rochester you will see it on your left. They are open from 10:00 am to 6:00pm Tuesday - Sunday. For questions call Kris at 1-360-623-9803 |

Flamingos posing for the camera

Flamingos are easy to photograph

I am not sure where this biplane is headed for

A near mid-air collision

A father tractor looks after the boys

Who ever heard of green rabbits?

Roosters on parade

That's one big rooster

Some companies will advertise anywhere

Lookout for the ducks

Welcome friends

I think this might be a lucky star

Another star

This tractor is lost

Ready for takeoff

Birds of a feather flock together

Butterflies are awesome

Well I'll be... a Metalfloorist

This picture is for the birds

It must be the invasion of the toads

A white tricycle for flowers

Doesn't he know this is a no smoking zone?

In the UK I have had no problem shooting my metal flamingoes. We bought 4 of them from a retail outlet near Cheltenham. They stay out in all weathers and never complain or ask to be fed. They are bronzed metallic colour, which shows up very well when I shoot them with my Sony Digital TTL camera. The camera is almost as much fun as the birds.
Hi there, Is it me or have those pictures been reduced for uploading so much that they have just turned into colored blocks, they seem to have on my PC, they look very bad, where as the Flag Diesel Parts picture below is fantastic by comparison.

I shoot my pictures in low resolution so they load fast. I see what you mean. Some of the pictures seam to be pixcelated in the upload process. I will work on uploading them again. Perhaps I will need to take the pictures again.

Really? What color do you think Flamingos should be?
Now there's a thing. I thought they were blue which rock on to this day. Then my wife spoilt it by pointing out that I would see blue since I am red/green colourblind! I always shoot at maximum reolution since the birds don't stay still for long and travel quite large distances very quickly. The real ones that is.

I think I messed up on the settings on my camera. I will be retaking the pictures on Sunday on the trip home again if the weather permits. I have taken pictures of real ones while vacationing on the Island of Bonaire. I did lots of underwater photography while scuba diving too. I really liked doing underwater night photography.
Whats the most famous Pink Flamingo Hotel? Also, where are pink flamingos native too?
