Pastor's Barbeque sends wrong message
By Franklyn Gallup of WoodFloorist.com
This morning I visited a church next to where I was working. I often visit churches to get different perspectives and this morning was no exception. After some good music the pastor started his sermon with sharing some news about his weekend. It was sunny here Saturday and the pastor's son thought it was a good day for steak. The pastor thought that sounded like a good idea and marinated some steaks for a late afternoon barbecue. He invited some friends over so there ended up being some 16 people to share the good food. Everything was going perfectly as planned and the coals on the barbecue died down a bit as everyone was socializing. Someone suggested roasting some marshmallows so out came 16 skewers and a bag of marshmallows. No sooner had everyone put a marshmallow on their skewer than a lot of sirens started close by. Soon there were flashing lights a few houses down the street. Everybody then walked down to see what all the commotion was about to discover that a neighbors house was on fire. The pastor said people started looking at them very oddly. He soon realized they were all standing watching the firemen put out the blaze as they were standing there with marshmallows on skewers. |

Today's sermon is on the mysterious ways in which God works his wonders. If it is OK for a house to catch fire, what is wrong with using the heat to roast marshmallows? (How many insurance companies use 'act of God' to refuse or reduce damage claims?)
You have to admit, it IS funny!
That's cute. Too bad no one had a camera.
ok thats funny
That was so funny. Of course, there is nothing wrong with watching he house on fire while holding marshmallows. Yet, the marshmallows doused the onlookers somehow. Or was it the smoke of the fire. Anyway, it would have been more fitting to stand there with ugly buckets of water than with festive pink marshmallows on skewers. Ha! Ha! Why do some not have a little sense of humor. I first thought that the barbecue was somehow to blame for that fire. But, that could have only been the case in some science fiction world of barbecuing.
Could have been a sticky situation, Franklyn. Thankfully, they didn't run into the fire. Thanks for sharing the light intel. Best wishes. Frederick
One should always carry a supply of marshmallows and skewers as part of an emergency kit. One never knows when one could come up against a house fire and be great-full to be able to roast the marshmallows Reg
Just so that pretty red maple tree did not burn down...or is that in your yard?

The Japanese Red Maple is at a customers house. It was the closest thing I had to a marshmallow.
Hilarious, life is funnier than fiction!
CONTRIBUTOR'S REPLY
I don't know about that. My wife writes some funny fiction. I thought it was funny. What was interesting is that the rest of the sermon was about the day of Pentecost. I couldn't help but ponder about them all having marshmallows on skewers in Acts 2:3
