Ripsawpaintball.com - An old lumberyard gets a new coat of paint , one paintball at a time
By Franklyn Gallup of FriendlyBank.net
I always marvel at creative new businesses that emerge from unused resources. Ripsawpaintball.com is just one such business. The game field is using an area once used by a lumber mill. Plans for go carts and laser tag may be added later depending on the success of the paintball. I discovered the new venture from a flier on a convenience store window announcing their Grand Opening. I quickly called to get more information and possibly get some pictures prior to the big day. You will see the pictures I took below. I talked to Justin Taylor and Rob Barrett who designed and built the game field which includes red and blue bunkers. The plan is to have leagues with 6 players on a team. Rental of paintball markers, body armor and face masks will be available for rent. Shirts will be available for sale. I took lots of pictures including and old truck. The truck won't be actually on the game field but adds to the atmosphere. It is pretty beat up. The design will resemble a large target from the air. This should pique the interest of pilots flying in and out of the nearby Chehalis-Centralia Airport. The playing field is made of soft wood mulch. The obstacles and bunkers will be placed in a design on this mulch base. The perimeter fence will have the heavy black fabric to protect spectators. The Grand Opening will be on June 19th. The course will be available for private parties as well. When I was there there were only two bunkers on the field. Finding the course might be a little difficult the first time so I have added a few pictures of what to look for on the main road. I just added some more pictures on Saturday. Things are on schedule for the Grand Opening on the 19th of June. |

Justin Taylor shows the shirt and protection used in paintball

Blue and red bunkers prepared to be added to the game field

Protective gear worn under the shirt

A paintball marker. This uses compressed air .

Black 15 mil film protects the spectators from getting hit with paintballs

Smaller blinds for the game field

These two pieces will form the center of the field

A red bunker

Blue Bunkers looking at the inside. Window cutouts will also be added

More game obstacles. They won't look like this after a few games.

Grand Opening Flier

The bridge to the course. Justin is giving me a tour of the layout.

The pile of mulch next to my van

Two bunkers in place

The slightly used pickup will be used for target practice

OK who left the door open?

Looking towards the former lumber buildings

View from the main road. Notice the tiny blue bunker in the center of the picture.

There is a sign for the animal shelter in front of where you turn in. Just go the opposite direction of the arrow.

This sign is right out in front of where you turn in and it is on the same side of the road as the paintball course

Another landmark to look for is theis green espresso stand across the street.

Road sign that marks where the turn is.

More bunkers and obstacles are added

The center of the paintball field is taking shape

The long steel poles will support the protective screen around the course

Looks like a perfect place to play paintball. My brother used to be a big-time paintballer, was on a league and played many tournaments. At one time he almost went pro. Thanks for the article and pics.

I will stop by and get some updated pictures periodically. There seems to be a lot of interest in this area.
What a great idea that was. Thanks for the pics.
This has become a very popular sport over the years and has a large following. Will look forward to the new pics.

I think it will do well in Chehalis, WA.
This is becoming popular in Spain. Hopefully it will become more popular than the traditional mania for killing wildlife.
Have you ever thought of getting paid for advertising these places you visit and take pictures of. It looks like a lot of fun but just think .. it might be an aditional income for you. You certainly have a gift for getting to the nitty-gritty and make it interesting also. Nicely done!

I have tried that and it seems to me to be a very hard sell. I am monetizing my Intels here on Qondio and for the moment am content with the passive residual income since I am still active in the wood flooring business. It is hard to convince businesses of the value for what I do. I am more inclined to move towards helping people create web pages and get top search engine placement. Go ahead Search on Google for Ripsawpaintball.com
I used to love playing paintball. There wasn't allof that protective armor when I played though. I remember when there was a group of 18 of us. We were challenged by 5 Vietnam vets with fancy equipment (at that time). They kicked our butts. I remember lying in cover guarding my team's flag. I heard them coming but did not see them. But they saw me. I lied there listening to them coordinating their movements. I got shot right between the eyes without even knowing where the shot came from...

That just goes to show it is not the size of the balls that matters but knowing how to use them ... size of the paint balls I mean of course.
Very nice with great images. My son loves paintball, church youth groups love the fun and our marines nearby love paintball, too! Thanks for this fun intel!

My son might be visiting before heading back over to Afghanistan. (ARMY) I will see if he would like to check it out too.
