I just got one of those annoying vacation promotion phone calls. You know the kind where "I'm not interested" is totally ignored. How do you handle those types of calls? When it became very apparent that I was not going to give $99 to someone for a trip I didn't want he put his supervisor on the phone to try and hard close me. I've been a salesman before. I know all the ways to close. I asked them to send the information to me in an email. My mother lives in Florida. It's not difficult to end up on a telemarketing list. I get them often. They're annoying but not as annoying as the people trying to scam you with phony deals and what not. I get endless calls from Florida telling me to punch a number on the keypad because my credit card requires confirmation. Yeah, right. Good intel.

As this guy was talking to me I was thinking in the back of my mind that this would make a good Intel (grin) I actually made a website about how to register your number on Do Not Call Lists some time ago. I make it a point now to get them to send me an email for making web pages. I ended up just hanging up on the guy.
All you need to say to get rid of this sort of call is - nothing - simply hang up and leave the receiver off for a while.
Having worked in the time share industry I know how easy it is to get a free holiday virtually anywhere in the world - some with flights included!

These time shares are some of the biggest rip-offs today.

I`m glad I joined a service that`s provided here in the UK whereby we can call a certain number or visit a particular website (a government backed arrangement) and add our phone numbers to a list which prevents any cold calling. It`s certainly cut right down on the annoying phone calls we now get.
