The Tanakh - The Messianic Prophecy Bible Project

By Franklyn Gallup of Biblefree.org

This past week I discovered that one of my best friends was Jewish. At least Jewish in name at least. The subject came up when I asked him what church he attended and learned something I never suspected. I have no problem with that I just wasn't expecting it.

I have done a little study about Judaism and it helps to understand the prophecy of the Jewish Bible (Old Testament) and fulfillment of the prophecy in Jesus to understand Christianity.

I was a little surprised and I asked if he read the The Tanakh. His reply surprised me. He asked what is the Tanakh?

I asked him to do a search on Google for Jewish Bible. In fact click here to search on Google for Jewish Bible and you will see what my friend found.

His next question really amazed me. He asked if I was Jewish. I said no but I have studied a little about Judaism. It soon became apparent that I knew more about it than he did.

****************

This week I was doing an estimate for a customer and noticed a Menorah on the mantle so I again politely asked about the Tanakh and got the same response. What's that? I pointed to the Menorah and asked if they were Jewish. The husband quickly pointed at his wife. I asked it they could do a search for Jewish Bible on Google which the husband did on his palm pilot.

He read this aloud reading from his palm pilot:

Tanakh
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Tanakh (Hebrew: תַּנַ"ךְ‎, pronounced [taˈnaχ] or [təˈnax]; also Tenakh or Tenak) is a name used in Judaism for the canon of the Hebrew Bible. The Tanakh is also known as the Masoretic Text or the Miqra. The name "Tanakh" is a Hebrew acronym formed from the initial Hebrew letters of the Masoretic Text's three traditional subdivisions: The Torah ("Teaching", also known as the Five Books of Moses), Nevi'im ("Prophets") and Ketuvim ("Writings")—hence TaNaKh. The name "Miqra" (מקרא) is a Hebrew word for the Tanakh, meaning "that which is read", derived from the word qara "קרא" meaning to read aloud. The elements of the Tanakh are incorporated in various forms in Christian Bibles, in which, with some variations, it is called the "Old Testament". The Old Testament typically is not printed with the traditional Hebrew subdivisions, though the distinction "Law and the Prophets" is used several times in the New Testament.[1]

The wife explained that her parents knew more about it than she did. I said I understood.

Today I received in the mail a letter from The Messianic Prophecy Bible Project.

OK God, I get the point. I'm writing the Intel.

This is a project which allows Jewish people to examine the scriptures for themselves in Hebrew, English, Russian, and Spanish.

This Bible will NOT be sold in stores for profit. It will be widely distributed to outreach organizations and given away for Free as an evangelistic tool, with the goal of getting it into the homes of the 13 million unsaved Jewish people worldwide. Currently there are 5.3 million Jewish people in Israel and 5.5 million in the United States.

Since most Jewish people have never even read the Bible, The Hebrew Messianic Prophecy Bible will:

Emphasize the Messianic prophecies.

Explain how Yeshua (Jesus) fulfilled those prophecies.

Answer rabbinical interpretation and the anti-missionary arguments against Yeshua (Jesus) being the fulfillment of the Messianic prophecies.

Pass this Intel on to your Jewish friends.

I wonder if you can help me with a question that a friend posed recently, because I was unable to find a good answer online and maybe the Tanakh might provide some information.

She said that Jesus can either be the son of God or the King of the Jews (of the House of David), but not both, because royal lineage in Judaism goes down the male line.

Best wishes,
Dirk

That is a very good question. I will look into it.

Really, really nice Franklyn. I had previously thought that the Tanakh and Torah were the same thing. I don't know why, but I did.

Ya learns somthin' new every day...

Alright... How did you get them thar Hebrew letters to print? That's what I REALLY want to know...

I think that many Jews and Christians only know the word Torah so the assumption is that that includes the entire Jewish Scriptures.

The Hebrew characters were a function of copy and paste. Don't tell me you don't read Hebrew

Technical question tracing Him through Mary's line. He's the Son of God, John 20:31 and Jesus King of the Jews, Matthew 27:11 One may object but this is what the word of God says.

My Concordance gives these 47 Scriptures with the words "Son of God" in them:

Daniel 3:25 - John 10:36

and

John 11:4 - Revelations 2:18

There are 17 verses with the words "King of the Jews"

Matthew 2:2 - John 19:21

That should be a good place to start for this question.

Excellent intel! ***** stars!
My response (above) was to Dirk's really good question.

Thanks for the stars. Feel free to respond to any of the other comments.

Until today I had never heard of the Tanakh. Thanks for the education.

That's pretty common. Many people have never heard of it.

Shame on you good Sir for tryin to convert Jewish folks to Christianity! So not cool.

But congratulations on getting asked for an estimate. Is the economy finally recovering?

I am not trying to convert anyone. I am simply making information available. What anyone does with that information is up to them.

No the economy is not recovering and many people feel it never will recover.

Hi Franklyn,

Great Intel. Informative and thought provoking!
