What to see when visiting the Seattle, WA area

The Seattle, WA area is a great vacation destination. If you plan to visit, below I have listed some things that you won't want to miss. Click on any of the words in bold below for more information on that attraction.


EMP Museum The EMP Museum is a fantastic educational experience. The museum brings together science fiction, rock music and pop culture. They have such diverse exhibitions such as Battlestar Galactica, Nirvana and Avatar. EMP is located at The Seattle Center, 325 5th Ave N, Seattle, WA

Future of Flight Aviation and Boeing tour This in not Fantasy Island. There really is a plane... in fact there are lots of them including the 747, 777 and the 787 Dreamliner. You can watch as these planes are being assembled on the assembly line. Very educational about the advances of modern commercial aviation.

Museum of Glass Everything about this museum is a wondrous educational venue. From live demonstrations to permanent collections of glass work. This is actually located in Tacoma which is a little ways south of Seattle.

Point Defiance Park and Zoo The Point Defiance Zoo has an aquarium as well as lots of interesting animals.

Ride the Ducks of Seattle Tour Seattle by land and water
on a WWII amphibious landing craft! The novelty of this tour vehicle is half the fun.

The Rosalie Whyel Museum of Doll Art If you have an interest in dolls and doll making this is a definite place to visit. They have over 3000 dolls on display.

Burke Museum of Natural History and Culture Feel younger by studying things that are a lot older than you are.

The Children's Museum Grab the kids and have a great time at the Children's Museum. Lots of interactive activities.

Safeco Field Tours Who's on first? Find out at the Safeco Field Tours. See parts of the sports facility that you don't see during a game. This a must for the baseball fan.

The Wing Luke Museum of the Asian Pacific American Experience Traditions and foods of the Asian Pacific lifestyle are presented.

Mt. Rainier Gondola Travel to new heights aboard the Mt. Rainier Gondola. It's not just for skiers anymore. This attraction is available during the winter months.

International District Tours Chinese food and culture has a deep history in the Seattle area. Many other cultures are present in Seattle as well.

Northwest Trek Wildlife Park The Pacific Northwest has many opportunities to get close to wildlife. This is a great experience for the whole family.

San Juan Island Whale Watching Orca Whale Watching has nothing to with telling time. These magnificent are amazing to watch and photograph.

Savor Seattle Food Tours Downtown Seattle is famous for it wide variety of foods from around the world. The Pike Place Market is a special place for browsing.

Seattle Aquarium An inspiring place for viewing the Marine life of the Pacific Northwest.

Seattle Art Museum Art for a variety of tastes from around the world and from many different time periods.

Space Needle - Seattle Observation Deck - Spectacular View Restaurant The Space Needle was built for the 1962 World's Fair. It has since become the symbol of Seattle, and one of the most recognizable structures in the world. It is located at 400 Broad Street in Seattle. Take the elevator up to the restaurant that rotates 360 degrees as you eat at 500 feet above the street level. Breathtaking views of Seattle are something to remember.

Teatro ZinZanni Some of the best entertainment while dining in Seattle.

Underground Tour Go back in time and see some of the old parts of Seattle which were built over. Much of this dates back to the original city of Seattle which was consumed by the Great Seattle Fire of 1889. Lots of history mixed with some wit.

Washington State History Museum Learn about the history of Washington state with many exhibits. This is located at 1911 Pacific Avenue in Tacoma, WA.

Woodland Park Zoo Woodland Park zoo is known as one of the finest zoos in the world with nearly 300 animal species including jaguars, grizzlies,gorillas,elephants, reptiles, birds and penguins.

There's a restaurant just north of the Seattle Opera House that's totally vegetarian - they use tofu that looks, tastes, and feels like NOT tofu - it's so incredible.
The best way to experience this place is with a group - order several dishes, share them from the large lazy susan in the center of a huge round table in one of the rooms!

Point Defiance Zoo might be considered a bit far south of Seattle to see when "visiting Seattle"...
But still, a fun place to visit - the zoo, that is!
Not, of course, that Seattle isn't fun to visit - as long as you're not caught in any traffic.

Sorry, neglected to mention the restaurant just north of the opera house is oriental food.

What about pike place market? I didn't see that on your list. I went to Seattle on my honeymoon and did the underground tour. It was fun and informative. After reading this intel I now want to go to the Washington State History museum.
