Why is it called FreeCell?
By Franklyn Gallup
Ever get so frustrated online that you find yourself playing FreeCell just to unwind? It can get a little overwhelming sometimes and FreeCell is just there after all the windows are closed and is a quick and easy cool down. I like it because you can resign a game if you get stuck and no one has to know. I like their slogan too. ...draining workplace productivity since 1996. They even have a version which uses a spreadsheet format so if someone happens to glance at your monitor at work it looks like you are actually working. There are FreeCell tournaments and discussion groups too. Often times people wonder if all the possible games in FreeCell are possible. Game #11,982 is one of the deals that is concluded to be unsolvable. To try this game simply click on game. Then click on select game. Copy and paste the number 11982 into the appropriate box and see how close you can get. The game gets it's name from the fact there are four free cells at the top left. These free cells are used to hold cards so you can move other cards into position. To the right there are four foundations where you start with Aces and build to Kings in the same suit. |

It's probably called freecell because it relieves the brain from cellular activity. Unfortunately I can get so involved in online games like this that I daren't start playing them for fear of not being able to stop. I have deleted them from my computer - just in case.
Oh I love FreeCell. Very addictive. I used to be very good at it.

Why does that not surprise me?
Play freecell to unwind? They gotta be kidding. Playing Freecell makes me want to hurl a boot through the monitor. LOL

Hi Franklyn, Like your Intel, and love the game. Over the time it has been part of Windows, I've probably spent close to a year of time playing it. It certainly is addictive...but then isn't everything you really enjoy addictive? gilbertg
